Have you ever felt frustrated and didn’t know why? Did you feel the frustration in your body and just didn’t know how to get rid of it? Maybe the frustration was due to how your body felt, discomfort or injury with no available cause.
I’ve woken up in the morning and felt discomfort with no idea why. I would rack my brain trying to figure out where it came from. What did I do wrong? Why did this happen?
Sometimes the answer is obvious: my body feels this way because I was gardening yesterday. My legs are sore because I went on a long run. My body feels tight because I was sitting at a workshop all day.
When the answer is not obvious we need to dig deeper to find the root cause of the problem. Ask yourself what emotions you are currently experiencing. Write down what you are feeling and reasons why you might be feeling them. Tell someone you are close to what you are feeling.
The answer can be hidden behind a veil. The veil is obscuring the why behind the emotions and feelings. Going behind the veil can be scary and maybe you’re not ready to learn the truth behind the emotions. You might feel vulnerable or scared.
The result of knowing the why behind the emotions and feelings will make you stronger. Recognizing and acknowledging will bring understanding. Once I acknowledge why I’m feeling a particular emotion I feel better. A weight is lifted off my shoulders. My body feels lighter. It’s like chains being released from my body.
Journaling is a great way to help you dig deeper and find out the why. When writing thoughts and feelings down often, you can begin to notice patterns. And when you know the pattern you can prevent feeling frustrated and change the way you feel. -Rachel
